First Annual Dancing with the Hawaii Stars Event
Dance, Love, Sing, Live – December 6
“Dancing with the Hawaii Stars” Comes to Honolulu
Honolulu …. Dancing in the rain, dancing on the ceiling, any way you like to dance – even if you just enjoy watching others dance is what Dancing with the Hawaii Stars is all about. The first Dancing with the Hawaii Stars, sponsored by Hawaii’s Arthur Murray Dance Centers, comes to the Hokulei Room, Dole Ballrooms, Iwilei, on December 6, 2014 from 7 – 10 p.m.
A fundraiser for Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children, the event will feature only Hawaii celebrity contestants. Revealing the lineup to date: Ari South, fashion designer and Project Runway finalist; Dita Holifield, singer and 97.5 FM DJ; Duncan Kamakana, singer/songwriter (“The Voice” and local Burger King commercial); and Moanaike`ala (Moani) Nabarro, KITV weather anchor/meteorologist. More star contestants still to be announced. “We are so fortunate to have such wonderful stars come out to support Kapi‘olani Medical Center. We are looking forward o giving them some dance tips so they will shine on stage,” says Gisella Anelle with Arthur Murray Dance Centers. “We invite everyone to come out and support them – to experience the energy involved in such a competition to dance, sing, love and live with us and help to ensure a future for Hawaii’s keiki.”
As a nonprofit hospital, Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children relies on philanthropic support to fulfill its mission of providing high quality, family-centered care for Hawai‘i’s women and children, especially the most critically ill. Proceeds from the Hawai‘i Dancing with the Hawaii Stars event will support vital programs and services of Kapi‘olani and help to purchase new life-saving equipment so the Center can offer cutting-edge medical care, and ensure that no one is denied care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Judging our Hawaii stars on their footwork will be Tristan MacManus – direct from coaching and choreographing Valerie Harper for the 2013 DWTS fall season. Watch for two more guest judges to be announced very soon.
You will be able to participate in this exciting event while helping to support Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. For a $200 donation (all proceeds go directly to Kapi‘olani), you will sit down to a fabulous first- class dinner; watch the competition and see if you agree with the judging of the stars dancing prowess; and be entertained by the music of Streetlight Cadence and the keiki hip-hop dance troupe from X-Static Dance Studio. Have your photo taken with the stars by Isle Media, get some super silent- auction buys, and dance the night away. Afterwards, you will be able to brush up on your dance steps because each guest who purchases the $200 ticket will receive a voucher for one free private dance lesson at either the Honolulu or Kailua Arthur Murray Dance Centers (a $145 value).
